Fair Use Policy

Last updated: September 20, 2026

This Fair Use Policy is part of the Terms & Conditions. It explains how we keep the Service fast, affordable, and reliable for all users, and what happens when usage falls outside normal patterns. Capitalized terms have the meaning given in the Terms.

1. Personal, in-product use

Plans and wallet balance are intended for your own applications and workloads, accessed through the documented API. You may not resell, broker, or sublicense access to the Service, share a single account across unrelated end-users or organizations, or embed your API key in client-side code distributed to third parties.

2. Rate limits

  • Each plan carries requests-per-minute (RPM) and tokens-per-minute (TPM) limits, shown on the pricing page and your dashboard.
  • Limits are shared across all API keys on the account. Bursts above your limit are rejected with 429 and do not consume quota.
  • Do not attempt to circumvent limits by creating multiple accounts or keys, rotating keys, or otherwise fragmenting traffic.

3. Quotas & multipliers

  • Plan quotas apply for the full duration of the plan with no daily reset, and expire when the plan ends.
  • Each model consumes quota at its published token multiplier (e.g. 2x means one token counts as two against your quota).
  • When quota is exhausted, requests stop until you renew, upgrade, or top up — the Service never draws negative balance.

4. Prohibited activity

In addition to the Acceptable Use section of the Terms, you may not:

  • Use the Service for cryptocurrency mining, credential stuffing, scraping at abusive volumes, or generating spam.
  • Benchmark, stress-test, or probe the Service or Upstream Providers in a way that degrades service for others, without prior written consent.
  • Systematically extract outputs to train or distill a competing model or service.
  • Automate account creation, voucher redemption, or trial abuse (including multiple free-tier registrations).
  • Interfere with other tenants, or attempt to access another user's data, keys, or usage.

5. Enforcement

We monitor aggregated traffic patterns — not the content of your prompts — to detect abuse. Where we detect a violation we may, proportionate to severity and at our discretion:

  • throttle or queue your requests,
  • suspend specific API keys,
  • request that you bring usage within normal patterns within a set period, or
  • suspend or terminate the account in line with the Terms.

Where practicable we will notify you before taking action, except where the activity risks harm to the Service, other users, or third parties.

6. Legitimate heavy use

Running a genuinely large workload? That's what the Service is for. If you expect sustained traffic well above standard plan limits, contact us at support@rerouter.dev and we will work out an arrangement instead of throttling you.

Rerouter routes every model provider through a single unified endpoint.
